A Citizen’s Farewell

I hid inside, then slipped right out.
Nobody said Stop that astonishing man!
Where did I go?
Dreaming the dream of the famous defector, miniaturized.
And I declared Friday a marvelous day of the week.

And lately I don’t answer calls; ring-a-ling, it put years on me,
fashioning brilliant machines. But one grows accustomed to cold comrades,
and I needed something to do.
